I suffer arthritis , diabetes and COPD (thats where you no longer breathe correctly) So walking has become diffectcult at best! Too young to lie down and die. and with limited income I asked The VA and Social Securty to get me a scooter! Big blow to my pride but I did it anyway. Well guess what . Rules rules and more rules seems if you still have legs they put you on the bottom of a very long list. So we look for options there are options. There is a place in Detroit that will provide you with a manual wheelchair for a mimiun donation of $57.00 It's called World Medical Relief located at 11745 Rosa Parks bldv. Detroit,mi phone # 313-866-5333. They are funded by The untied Way and while I'm not sure but you may find them in your state too...by calling your local United Way office.
The DAV group also offers recycled scooters and wheelchairs I'm told.
